Sandra Heidl, born in Havana in 1973, is an author, researcher, blogger and psychologist. In her work, she addresses racism, researches discrimination in the Cuban context and makes the stories of Afro-Cuban women visible. In 2014, she was nominated for The Bobs - Best of Online Activsm Awards by Deutsche Welle. She is also the founder of the Afro-Cuban Black feminist women's group Afrocubanas and co-editor of the book Afrocubanas: historia, pensamiento y prácticas culturales published in 2011 by Editorial de Ciencias Sociales, Havana, Cuba. She is also the author of the publication Negra cubana tenía que ser, published by Ediciones Wanafrica in 2021. She is a member of the Black Americas Network.
