Guest: Dr. María del Rosario Díaz
Dr. María del Rosario Díaz is an anthropologist and a scholar of Cultural Studies. She works at the Instituto Cubano de Antropología (ICAN) and the Universidad de La Habana, where she does research and teaches. After receiving her diploma in Cultural Anthropology, she completed her doctorate in Cultural Studies/Cuban Studies at the Universidad de las Artes in Havana. She is one of the leading experts on the Cuban anthropologist Fernando Ortiz, about whom she has published numerous works, e.g. “Fernando Ortiz: Vida, obra y papelería” (2021). She is member of the international research network called AntropoCuba and currently working on a comparative history of Cultural Anthropology with a focus on Cuba and Haiti together with researchers from ICAN, the Instituto Cubano de Investigación Cultural Juan Marinello and the Institut de Recherche pour le Development.
