As members of the Centre for Atlantic and Global Studies (CEAGS), we conduct research on transcultural interdependencies, global power constellations, discourse sovereignty and coexistence in societies characterized by migration.
Not least because of our intensive work on these topics, we are observing the increasing shift to the right within German society and the popularity of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) with great concern. But even beyond the AfD's specific plans, we see the traces left behind by colonialism and National Socialism in German society: Various forms of racism continue to shape the reality in our country, be it in the form of everyday racism, structural discrimination or restrictive asylum policies.
Not only are these developments incompatible with our self-image, but our diverse association is also made up of employees and students who are directly affected by racism and directly at risk due to the "remigration plans" that have become known.
We take a strong stance against all forms of oppression, exclusion and inequality. In particular, we show solidarity with the marginalized groups that are restricted by racist bills and everyday discriminatory practices.
