  • Erinnerungen an die atlantische Sklaverei. Frankreich und Spanien, die französische Karibik und Kuba im Vergleich und im Kontext globaler Debatten um das Gedenken an Sklavenhandel und Sklaverei
    Auf Grundlage der Studien der Forscherin zu Sklaverei und Postemanzipation, besonders zum französischen Überseedepartment Martinique und zum vormals spanischen Kuba, werden der Umgang mit historischen Überresten (Plantagen mit den Häusern der Versklaver und Unterkünften der Versklavten) und die Einrichtung von Gedenkorten (Denkmälern und Museen) in Frankreich und Spanien, Martinique und Kuba im Kontext globaler Debatten um Versklavung und Erinnern, Entschuldigen, Entschädigen untersucht.

  • Exilische Vernetzungen
    Networks of Exiles - Practices and Esthetics of the Transnational in Postrevolutionary Mexico of the 1920s to the 1940s Das Projekt soll die Rolle von Exilant*innen aus Europa, Hispanoamerika und der Karibik in der besonderen Dynamik politischer und kultureller Neukonstitution im Mexiko der 1920er bis 1940er Jahre herausarbeiten. Es zielt auf die Untersuchung der vielfältigen Begegnungen und gemeinsamen Aktivitäten zwischen Exilant*innen verschiedener Herkunft und mexikanischen Künstler*innen, Intellektuellen und Schriftsteller*innen, die die postrevolutionäre Konsolidierungsphase unter der Präsidentschaft von Lázaro Cárdenas und Ávila Camacho als Chance für künstlerische Experimente und kulturelle Neuverortungen begriffen.

  • Hollywood Memories: Cinematic Remaking and the Construction of Global Movie Generations
    Remaking ist eine langjährige Hollywoodpraxis: ein industriell motivierter, kreativer Prozess, der über Jahrzehnte hinweg Neuverfilmungen, Fortsetzungen usw. erzeugt. An der Schnittstelle von American Studies, Memory Studies, Filmwissenschaften, Generationentheorie und Global Studies untersucht das Projekt die langfristigen kulturellen Auswirkungen solcher Filme und nimmt an, dass sie Erinnerungen, gelebte Erfahrungen und generationsbezogene Identitäten von Zuschauer*innen in einer globalisierten Welt prägen. Es geht darum, wie Populärkultur, Medien und Gedächtnis Generationalität konstruieren.

  • Knowledge for Tomorrow: Postdoctoral Fellowships in the Humanities in Sub Saharan and North Africa
    The project “Knowledge for Tomorrow – Cooperative Research Projects in Sub-Saharan Africa” opens the possibility for research partnerships between German and African researches. At the same time, it promotes high-ranking humanists and social scientists on their way to a professorship and supports them in building international partnerships and academic networks. Furthermore, this project contributes to the education of young scientists and to the capacity building at African universities.

  • Koloniale Spuren in Hannover
    Die Erkenntnis, dass Deutschland eine postkoloniale Gesellschaft ist, etabliert sich in den letzten Jahren zunehmend in der bundesdeutschen Öffentlichkeit. Damit gewinnt auch die Frage an Bedeutung, wie Deutschland mit der eigenen Kolonialvergangenheit umgehen soll. Projekte zur (post-)kolonialen Spurensuche, zumal jene, die sich bislang weniger beachteten Schauplätzen, Situationen und Akteur:innen zuwenden, haben in diesem Zusammenhang eine besondere wissenschaftliche und gesellschaftliche Relevanz.

  • Manuel de linguistique populaire
    Publikationsprojekt: Handbuch. Herausgabe geplant im Juni 2024. Verlag: De Gruyter This handbook discusses the concept of folk linguistics from a range of perspectives (i.e. historical). It also takes into account methodological questions, the collection of data, the relationship between folk linguistics and translation studies, lexicography, language teaching, and onomastics. Finally, it presents research findings that concern folk linguistics in the Romance-speaking areas.

    This project explores US-American mass culture of the early 20th century with a close attention to their trans-Atlantic circulation and repercussions. It responds to the fact that the big dance revues of the 1910s and 20s gained emblematic significance for industrial modernity at large.
